When we are trying to eat healthy, raw fruits and salad are always an option but sometimes they are not handy and there are times we have craving for something crunchy and at that time it is easy to grab anything which is convenient to us like chips, nuggets, fried puffs, namkeens, but by being little smart planning we can overcome this. Nothing can be better than whole grains for weight management. I am sharing some healthy alternatives for quick hunger pangs. When next time you go for grocery shopping, look out for these alternatives.

Popcorn is a whole grain, it is rich in fiber and has a low glycemic index which makes it good for weight control. One cup of popcorn can provide a day’s recommended fiber intake. furthermore, it is rich in vitamins and minerals including calcium, magnesium, potassium, and phosphorus. One cup of popcorn just counts 30 calories(without oil, with oil: 70 calories.

Puffed wheat is rich in potassium, selenium, soluble fibre and zinc, it benefits the patients of hypertension and also helps in regulating weight. They taste really good, you can also buy with peels and it will be more healthy.

Roasted Lotus seeds are my favorite snacks, I just love how delicious they are with their countless health benefits. They are believed to treat insomnia, stomach pain, younger looking skin, improve urination, treat mouth ulcers, maintain blood pressure and helps in reducing weight. They are very good for expectant mothers as are supposed to aid in the growth of the nervous system of a fetus. You can roast them with a very small amount of ghee/oil and a pinch of salt.

Pumpkin seeds are a source of good fats, magnesium, and calcium and are suggested to people suffering from osteoporosis, they are also rich in antioxidants and thus good for skin and they are delicious too. You can easily get dry roasted pumpkin seeds at any grocery store. A handful of pumpkin seeds(30 grams) counts for 100 calories.

Roasted Peas are rich in fiber, protein and vitamin A, K, E, B and minerals like manganese, iron, and phosphorus. They are filling and an excellent snack with just 110 calories in a cup.

Roasted Soybeans are highly rich in Omega 3 and Omega 6 oils, and high in fiber and protein it is an absolutely healthy snack. You can consume soybean in any form and it is going to benefit you in some way. It just counts 100 calories for a sufficient amount of it.

Oatmeal cookies have soluble fiber and it keeps you full for a longer time, it helps you combat overweight issues. moreover, it is rich in calcium, magnesium, zinc, selenium, and iron. it is a perfect munching option.

Now you can easily pick up snacks which are actually healthy at the supermarket. Always prepare your snacks beforehand, keep in your bag, at your worktable, so you have a healthy alternative before you grab something calorie dense and nonnutritive. These were my options of healthy snacking, but you have to keep in mind about the mentioned portion size and never you will never go overboard. Please also share what do you eat as a healthy snack.

  1. Wwooww all these snack with low on calories and high on taste always in our surrounding on our kitchen and we always forget to have them rather than eating that high calories fried snack…Good keep posting such good Information.
