Let’s meet Bambi in Nara

July 24, 2019

Nara Park is a public park, located in Nara city, is famous for its semi-wild deers who are friendly and intelligent. I went to this city just to visit this park, it is special because of over 1200 deers freely roaming around in this beautiful natural treasure, and are friendly to humans as they get lots of human interaction every day. They are so intelligent that they have learned to bow if you offer them food, you can easily get the husk crackers outside the park which they love to eat.

In Japan, deers are considered sacred and lucky, due to their relation to one of the Kasuga God. Harming or killing any deer was considered a punishable offense.

I reached the Nara city through shinkansen around 5 pm in the evening and I took a nap at the hotel and then after dinner, I went out to explore the nearby area and Nara park was just 300 m away so I could not resist to check out the place.

The host was a gentle old man accompanied by a cute girl, I had positive vibes from that place. I had some conversation with them, they asked me if Indians are really good at maths, I replied that mine is not even average but I know many people who are maths expert. Then they replied but you are very beautiful and when I was already looking at this cute girl, next moment she asked for a picture with me. It is strange how we can quickly see the beauty in others and underestimate our own. while I found her flawless, she had the same feelings for me.

Pictures as I entered the park. Two small Bambi came near me for food and i just had some popcorns in my bag and they loved it and once they finished it, they were asking for more, They followed me and I run out of the park. ๐Ÿ˜€

Next morning, I went there around 10 am and I could see many deers, some were very small very so cute with their tiny budding antlers and the bigger one had beautiful antlers. I expected them to be not friendly like dogs, but they were so intelligent. They get lots of human interaction every day so they were not scared of humans, even they will scare yours from surprising bites with their sharp teeth, so make sure you wear tough denim. (beware of the back bitters) ๐Ÿ˜€ They will look at your hands if you have got some food. If you want to feed them you can easily get many cracker stalls at the entrance for like 100 yen.

I was feeding two deers from the front and then many came from the back without my knowledge and started biting me from the back. Being honest I got scared for a moment. But overall, I loved visiting the place and it was amazing seeing 1000 of deer at one place and they were not caged, and I was happy that they are living in such a beautiful natural treasure.

See how is he looking at the camera.

Nara is such a small, quiet and beautiful place, I got free from the park in around 2 hours and I am telling you it does not take more than that. After that, I explored nearby areas and left for Osaka. So you can easily visit this place in a day.

I will recommend you to visit this place if you love animals and nature.

Lots of love ๐Ÿค—
