Why I am not losing weight?

October 4, 2019

Everyone goes through ups and downs in everything they plan to do but the thing to remember is being determined and work hard instead of focussing on results. The before and after pictures we see on Instagram do not tell the journey, they also went through many phases through that journey and it is the result of months and years of practice. If you are struggling getting results, try to find out the reason and fix it and try again.

here I am sharing some of the common reasons you are not getting results:

  1. Making Unrealistic expectations: If you want to lose kilos in a week, that is an over-expectation and it will be unhealthy, it took you months to put on kilos, the appropriate weight loss in a week should not be more than 250 gram. Do not overburden yourself and once in a week have a treat meal. Make realistic goals that you can achieve and enjoy in the long term, and enjoy your journey towards a healthy lifestyle.
  2. Overeating healthy foods: Remember all foods have calories, it does not mean you can go overboard with healthy food. Take your 3 meals with every essential food let it be carbs, high fiber, fat, protein in small portions. This way you will have satiety and will not eat all the time.
  3. Not drinking enough water: If you are not drinking at least 2.5-liter water a day, it will affect your workout efforts and muscle gain. Drinking water is so simple but we often forget. Keep a 1-liter water bottle with you and refill it twice a day, that way you will have a track of it. Drink water before meals and sometimes when you feel hungry, maybe you a thirsty, drink water first.
  4. Weighing every hour: When we start a weight loss program we become so conscious of our weight and keep on checking it many times a day. Our body is 70% percent water and its level keeps on fluctuating, you can not weigh the same throughout the day. So, it is not about weight, enjoy your health program instead of always focusing on results.
  5. Consuming liquid calories: Sometimes we refrain from eating food and instead take our calories in the form of liquids, guiltfree that we did not eat anything. We consume lots of sugar, cream in our coffees. If we just cut liquid calories we will be reducing 1/4 of our calorie intake. If you replace your liquids with healthy alternatives, you will save around 500 calories a day.
  6. Not lifting weight: If your workout is just focussed on a few cardio and you never pull weights? Remember that while cardio will burn calories only during the workout, but with strength-training, you burn calories the whole day after your workout, sore muscles are a good sign of that and once you build muscles, they will help you keep lean for many months even if you stop doing the workout.
  7. Undergoing a plateau phase: Sometimes following the same workout and diet plan for a long time, our body becomes used to it and stops at a certain weight. if you are experiencing that take a break to normal life or incorporate changes in your plan, instead of feeling demotivated.
  8. Stressing much: Stress is capable of affecting everything in your life, with stress you cannot concentrate, sleep or do anything efficiently. It is not going to take you anywhere. So take a deep breath, be kind to your body, if you need a break, take a break until you feel positive about yourself and start all over again mindfully.

Those were the common reasons for not getting success in a weight loss program and if you are doing everything right and still no results. I will suggest you for a health checkup to make ensure if you have hypothyroid or any hormonal condition and change your workout and diet accordingly.

Stay happy and healthy 🙂

Lots of love
